Bali Australian Boy Sentenced On Drug Charges
A 14-year-old Australian boy who was recently arrested and imprisoned in Indonesia for buying and using marijuana is set to return home.
The teenager was vacationing with his parents at the Legean resort hotel when on October 4th, he ventured out on his own and purchased 3.6g of marijuana from a Kuta street dealer and was arrested moments later.
After almost 1 month in the Bali police headquarters in Denpasar and the Jimbaran immigration detention center, the young man appeared in court where Denpasar District Court Judge Amser Simanjuntak announced that seeing that he had been to a rehabilitating center and is extremely apologetic for his actions, he will be free to return to Australia on December 4th.
Judge Amser Simanjuntak could have sentenced the youth to 6 years in prison for his criminal act.
The sobbing youngster who became a drug addict about two years ago was also fined 2000 rupiah (which is about 23 Australian cents).
Rumors claimed that the family is set to make almost half of a million dollars by selling the story to the Nine Network.
